Memory Verse May - Acts 1:8

May 1, 2013 | by: RAKlets | 0 comments

During the month of May we'll be focussing on the beginnings of the church and how the Good News of Jesus began to spread around the world. Our memory verse for this month is: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8 ... This week we found ourselves on a mountain with Jesus and His disciples and we heard Jesus tell them to Go & Tell. Where were they told to go? Everywhere. What were they told to tell? The Good News that Jesus is the Messiah who had come to rescue God’s people from their sin and that He had done this by dying on the cross in our place and paying the price for our sin.... This week we listened in as the resurrected Jesus had breakfast on the beach with His disciples. We heard Him forgive Peter and we heard Him give Peter a special job. Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep. What Jesus meant was that Peter (and the other disciples) had the job of taking care of and teaching God’s people....they were going to ‘feed’ them God’s Word and teach them to follow Him. We were also reminded that we have men in our church who have that same job- our elders are the men who are chosen to ‘feed the sheep’ in our church.... Keep Reading

This week we saw the disciples hiding in a locked room scared and confused. Peter and John and the women had seen the empty tomb and Mary claimed to have seen Jesus, but they really didn’t understand what was going on. Then, with the doors locked, Jesus appeared in the room with them proving that He is alive now and forever. ... Keep Reading

This week we saw the second part of the greatest story you’ll ever hear as we witness through John 18-19 Jesus being arrested, tried, beaten and then put on a cross to die. We remembered the Good News that not only did Jesus die for our sins, but He also came back to life again conquering the power of sin and death. In our story the disciples saw the empty tomb, but so far only Mary has seen the risen Jesus. ... Keep Reading

This week we saw the first part of the greatest story you’ll ever hear as we witness through John 18-19 Jesus being arrested, tried, beaten and then put on a cross to die. We were reminded that His death was to pay the price for our sin. And, as Jesus took His last breath and said, “It is Finished!” we remembered that no one took Jesus’ life from Him, but that He laid down His life for His people and by dying in our place He finished the work He had come to do. Last week ended with Jesus in a tomb and the disciples scared and confused.....but that was just the beginning of the story!... Keep Reading

Plugged In - Preparing for Easter

March 22, 2013 | by: RAKlets | 0 comments

In our passage in John 15 today we saw that Christians need to stay connected to Jesus. Our memory verse for the month helps us to understand why. Being connected to Jesus and in a relationship with God through Him is the only way to have life. If you are a follower of Jesus….if you have turned away from the sin in your life and turned to Jesus….you need to stay connected to Him to have life, just like the branches needs to stay connected to the vine in order to live.... This week & next we’ll be working through the book “The 1st Easter” to help us prepare for Easter. Make a mural/ timeline of the last week before Jesus died and came back to life, adding to it each day. The easiest way to do this might be to add a piece of paper each day! If you’re feeling really creative, consider getting some clay and making a 3D scene of each day.... Keep Reading
