The religious leaders have been silenced by Jesus. Now, Jesus will pronounce the devastating verdict: "Woe to you... For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside...are full of greed and self-indulgence." Jesus concludes by lamenting over the dark spiritual state of Jerusalem. May we continue to approach God with humility, so that these woes would never apply to us.
