Once again God's people are unfaithful, and yet God is faithful in bringing deliverance through the weak and fearful Gideon. Gideon brings both reformation of worship and redemption from their enemies. But he too is enticed into idolatry and immorality in his later life. We are never to presume upon the gracious deliverance of our God. Rather God's marvelous salvation should lead us to heart-filled worship of him.
